KPC Food Security Garden
In partnership with the Guelph Food Bank, the KPC Food Security Garden cultivates a quarter-acre plot behind the church to provide fresh vegetables to neighbours in need.
The garden is a team effort, led by a seasonal grower and supported by volunteers — including students on class trips. About half the plot grows root vegetables like potatoes, carrots, beets, and onions, while the rest produces a diverse mix of greens and seasonal crops such as kale, beans, and cabbage.
Growing good in Guelph
From 2020 to 2025, I volunteered to document the garden’s story — capturing photography and producing videos that showcase the growing seasons, the people behind the work, and the community impact.
In that time, the garden produced over 40,000 pounds of vegetables, all donated to local organizations fighting food insecurity, including Chalmers Community Services Centre, Royal City Mission, and Hope House.
